The Manchar–Rajgurunagar Bypass project along National Highway 60 represents a significant infrastructure development aimed at improving regional connectivity and easing traffic congestion along the busy Pune–Nashik corridor. Undertaken by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in association with T&T Infra Limited, the project involved the construction of approximately 4 km of Graviloft retaining walls, ranging from 2 m to 10 m in height, primarily for vehicular underpass (VUP) approaches and associated highway infrastructure. The extensive retaining requirements demanded a solution capable of accommodating varying elevation differences while maintaining construction economy across a large project footprint. With stringent cost considerations and demanding execution timelines, conventional retaining structures presented challenges associated with material consumption, excavation requirements and construction duration, necessitating an efficient and scalable alternative.
Graviloft Technology provided a structurally efficient and economical retaining solution, enabling the construction of extensive highway retaining structures while optimising material utilisation, foundation dimensions and associated earthwork. Its compact structural geometry substantially reduced excavation and backfilling requirements, contributing to overall project economy without compromising structural stability. The technology’s streamlined construction methodology, simplified execution processes and reduced dependence on extensive reinforcement and formwork facilitated systematic construction across multiple work fronts. The entire 4 km retaining wall scope was successfully completed within 18 months, demonstrating Graviloft’s ability to deliver large-scale infrastructure under demanding project schedules. The project stands as a significant example of how innovative retaining solutions can combine cost efficiency, accelerated execution and dependable structural performance, reinforcing Graviloft’s suitability for major national highway developments.
